I have reservations, but on a free and a reasonable salary (or basic and pay as you play and pay as you score)

He's worth a punt plus how funny would it be if we won the league again with him playing a crucial part and helping us bypass Liverpool.

Hotmail appear to have relaxed their view on allowing POP3 and SMTP access to their patrons with free accounts.

Up until now, you had to upgrade to the paid account to get this kind of access, but after a tip off yesterday, I am not accessing my hardly used (and often forgotten) account from both my iPhone and the mail app in OS X.

This doesn't seem to have been widely publicised though.

So I'm sharing.

The overall feeling I have about 2008 from many, many people is that it sucked.

My 2008 didn't suck, it wasn't in my top 10 years either. My life is very much in my own control, I don't like it being in anyone else's control, however my time is very much in other people's control and that's something that leads to time suckage to an amazing extent.

Between work and Family issues, my own time is minimal and I'm going to take control of that.

Happy 2009 gang, hope this year's better than last year, even if last year rocked for you.

I'm sat in bed watching the coverage of the US Election and Adele says

"Turn this trash off and go to sleep" This is a regular refrain from Adele for any program which is not a soap or reality TV (I'm a Celebrity is due on soon apparantly. YAWN!)

"It's not even like this affects us at all."

I'm sorry, at what point did the US not affect the rest of the world?

Liverpool Summit

On Wednesday and Thursday, I went to the Liverpool Summit at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, the speakers were:

Michael E Porter, Sir Terry Leahy, Chris Patten, Clayton Christensen, Renée Mauborgne, Will Hutton, Kofi Annan (Via Video Link)

It was extremely inspirational, especially in the current financial situation. I thought that Chris Patten was extremely entertaining and Clayton Christensen did two excellent sessions on how to build sustainable growth within business. I can't stress enough how good this was, how much I learned and how many ideas it gave me for the future. I doubt I'll get to go to many of these, and it was well worth it.

We went to the Circus last night, Circus Starr which is a circus which does events where the proceeds go to charity. Last nights was for Derian House who the company I work for are linked to, so we bought some tickets and attended.

It was really good no animals (Naturally) Clowns and fun, the girls had a really good time.

Before the Circus, I took some photos of Pennington Flash, so here's some photos from the whole night. )

New Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy Novel

I know, two posts in one day.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/09/17/new_hitchhikers_novel/

I didn't like the flow of the fifth novel, so I really don't like the idea of a Sixth written by someone else.

I'll reserve judgement until I read it, but I'll not be buying it until I've read someone else's copy.

There's no pressure here, but I thought I'd try my hand.

Lowri Beck are currently raising funds for the British Red Cross.
Our first event was a Parachute Jump
Our second event is taking place on Sunday 14th September 2008, whereby seventeen daring Lowri Beck employees (including myself) will take part in a 65ft freefall abseil off Runcorn Bridge! It is a fantastic challenge venue with spectacular views across the Manchester ship canal and the river Mersey estuary.
This event is exclusive to the British Red Cross as only one abseil off the bridge is allowed each year.
For more information please visit here: http://www.redcross.org.uk/events_page.asp?id=77079&ONav=73910
To donate please go to: http://www.justgiving.com/lowribeckredcross

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: British Red Cross will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
